I am 15, and how can i manage to sell some of my logo/apparel designs?

February 14th, 2012 · Logo Designs FAQ

Question: I am 15, and how can i manage to sell some of my logo/apparel designs?
I wouldn’t say i’m inexperienced, but i’m not the greatest. How could i sell my designs and where? Who could i contact?
BTW, i’m talking about designs, as in still in the digital format. Not actual manufacture, set-up shop, sell physical objects.

Unfortunately realistically no clothing or apparel company will buy random designs for use on its products. They either design in-house or use established freelancers.
If your serious about what you do sign up with an apparel printing and distribution company. They will display your designs, print them, sell and dispatch them. You don’t have to do any work apart from the original design. Two i can think of are www.cafepress.com/, www.spreadshirt.net/.

If your designs are vector format and suitable for the market maybe try selling the vectors on www.fotolia.com/.

Copyright on design work is sketchy at best. Any one could steal your basic idea and change 1 or 2 aspects to avoid paying you royalties. That’s just the risk you have to take.

If you have clothing print designs for a particular brand then just email them in to them. If they like it you may get a few hundred bucks and a bag of free clothing. Also opens the door to further possibilities.
But I wouldn’t hold your breath, most brands get loads of these requests every week.
